Happy Friday!

I hope you’ve had a great week as we slide into fall-ish weather here in Philly. I’m wearing a hoodie (black), listening to music (Bruce Springsteen), drinking hot coffee (with a splash of half-and-half) and sitting in the shade outside because I hate the sun!

Last week, I told you all about this Tallahassee-based candymaker called Lofty Pursuits. The owner Greg makes YouTube videos where he explains how they make their candy. Well, I put in an order at his shop, Public Displays of Confection. I’m hoping to get my shipment of candy in the next few days. I’m especially excited for this Halloween assortment. I’ll let you know if it’s any good!!

OK. Let’s get into it.

Things I’ve been enjoying:
Squid Game (Netflix) - I can’t stop thinking about this Korean show, which I binged over three days earlier in the week. Listen, I watch a lot of TV. Most of it is vacant reality TV trash. There’s no larger message. There’s no commentary on the state of the world. There’s no soul. These Real Housewives-y and 90 Day Fiance-ish shows are mostly a spectacle. Just empty conflict. Squid Game has so much to say, so much heart, so much outrage. It’s a gripping story with searing commentary on the inhumanity inherent in capitalism. It’s also beautifully filmed. As of this writing, the show has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Just watch it. There’s nine episodes about an hour long each. *There is some violence, just FYI. But if you can handle watching say, the Hunger Games movies, you can handle this.

This incredible yacht rock playlist on Spotify - I’m not always in the mood to listen to yacht rock, but when the mood strikes, this playlist freakin’ delivers. It boasts 76 songs and clocks in at almost 5 and a half hours long. That’s…a lot of yacht rock, my dudes.

This video of Kermit singing the Talking Heads’ “Once In A Lifetime” - THIS IS MY VIBE on so many levels. I would consider getting a tattoo of Kermit in a David Byrne-esque suit. I’m serious.

Things I strongly dislike:
Huge bottles of body wash - I only have one body and it takes me a literal calendar year to use an entire bottle of body wash. I’m sick of it! This humongous bottle is taking up an entire corner of my bath tub. It should be paying me rent!

Dark chocolate - Is this a safe space? Can I be honest and just say that dark chocolate is bullshit? I never crave it. I never enjoy it. It’s usually dry and bitter. It’s basically the Piers Morgan of the chocolate world.
